For those who missed the point...it isn't to say women shouldn’t work outside the home but to highlight how, years ago, the narrative shifted to make staying home seem oppressive. In the mid-20th century, there was a push to get more women into the workforce—not just for "empowerment" but to expand the tax base and boost the economy. More workers = more taxable income. Marketing and media started portraying housewives as unfulfilled or "wasting their potential" framing careers as the only path to independence and value.

By convincing women that raising their own children was less meaningful than paid work, society devalued the role of mothers at home. My point is that true empowerment should be about choice—recognizing the value of staying home to raise kids just as much as the value of a career. The pressure to conform to one standard or the other is what’s truly limiting.
The fact that so many women were enraged by this goes to show how deeply ingrained the narrative has become in society. Had this been a video of me leaving my child at daycare while going off to work, many of you wouldn't bat an eye. Think about that next time you consider yourself a "feminist".

Mud season has been rough this year, (says every farmer..every single year) Our pigs are on pasture most of the year and pulled into pens closer to the house through winter. This year has been SWAMPY. We are working everyone a little earlier than usual for that very reason. We had one gilt start acting a lil lethargic so we knew it was time. Within 24 hrs she was good as new!

I had to chase this girl around for a solid 15 minutes before I wore her out and was able to get the job done. Typically if Connor's there with me he ropes them, we throw a cage over the top of them and I stick my arm in to inject real quick. Neither one is quick but they both get the job done😂

Pro tip: over fill syringe slightly (I did by about a half ml) so you can pump as much in as you can quickly before they bolt. You can see if you look closely at the end as she pulls away some of the fluid squirts outta the syringe but because I over filled it slightly she got close to a full injections worth!

Tomorrow, our sweet baby Rudy will undergo brain surgery to treat his recently diagnosed hydrocephalus.

This condition, caused by an abnormal buildup of cerebrospinal fluid in his brain, has been a life-changing discovery for us following his brain bleed. While we’ve had to process so much over these last few days, we are so grateful for the care and advancements that make treatment like shunt placement possible.

This surgery will help manage the fluid and pressure, but it’s not a cure. The shunt will be a permanent part of Rudy's life moving forward, requiring monitoring and possible adjustments as he grows. Though the road ahead feels uncertain, we’re leaning on hope, faith, and love to carry us through.

We would be so grateful for your prayers, positive thoughts, and support as our sweet baby boy undergoes this procedure tomorrow. Please keep him and his medical team in your hearts💙

I need to hear "your littles are so blessed to have you."
I don't need to hear that the years are short.
I need to hear that "delight like this doesn't end."
I don't need to hear that I can't get this time back.
I need to hear "each season has so much goodness."
I don't need to hear that I'll miss these days.
I need to hear "tomorrow is really beautiful too."
I know, ok? I know.
But I can't stop time. I can't stop blinking.
None of us can.
So I watch their wrinkles fade, and I watch their wobbly steps take them away from me, and I wave as they walk into school, and I cheer when the ball goes in the net, and I hug them through their first broken heart, and I straighten the duvet on their dorm room bed - and I know.
And what I need, really, is a hand on my shoulder and a voice in my ear that soothes the frantic race against time. That remembers the goodness of today stacked next to the panic of all of it ending. That knows the bittersweet reality of chapter 1, but can also tell me about the wonder of chapter 2.
I can't keep my eyes open forever. I'm trying - but I can't.
And I'd love to know that's okay - because every blink brings me into another season that is good + beautiful too."

God couldn't have picked a more perfect boy for us and we thank him every dang day for this miracle!

These past few days have been a whirl wind of emotions and fears as our sweet little boy started having seizures Thursday night. He was transported to children's mercy immediately after confirming a large brain bleed.

He has since come off all breathing support, has not had any further seizures and his bleed has stopped and things have stabilized!

Our little Rudy is a fighter and doing so well. We are so proud of the progress he has made and will continue to make each and every day🩵

This has been the hardest and scariest thing Connor and I have ever been through and appreciate all of the prayers and support as we navigate his road to recovery🙏

We know god is watching out for our son and has seen him through the worst of this. Rudy has already overcome so much and we know he will continue to fight and prove doctors wrong💪

Nothing more fulfilling then getting to share this life with our sweet boy already🫶 milking sessions are about the only time I really sit still and relax so naturally it's when he's the most active😂 milkings may take a little longer one handed but I wouldn't trade feeling these kicks for the world!
